Body Roll and manual lymphatic drainage often appear beside each other in a Brisbane online search, but they are not interchangeable. One is a guided, machine-based wellness treatment. The other is a hands-on technique delivered by a suitably trained practitioner.

What happens during Body Roll?
You move through 17 positions against a powered roller, working from feet to shoulders. The machine supplies the rolling movement and you use your position and body weight to control the pressure. Your first visit includes a consultation, demonstration and the full program.
Body Roll is not a hands-on massage and it is not a workout class. Our team shows you the positions and stays nearby if you want the settings changed.
What happens during manual lymphatic drainage?
Manual lymphatic drainage, often shortened to MLD, is delivered with the practitioner’s hands. Training, appointment length, pricing and clinical scope vary, so those details should be confirmed with the provider before booking.
If a surgeon, GP or other treating clinician has recommended MLD for a specific reason, ask them what practitioner qualification and technique they want you to use. A Body Roll booking should not be substituted for that referral.
Embod does not provide manual lymphatic drainage. We provide the machine-based Body Roll treatment described on this page.
Which should you choose?
Choose Body Roll when the machine experience is what you want
Body Roll may suit you if you want to stay clothed, prefer deeper rhythmic pressure, are comfortable moving through guided positions and want a fixed 45-minute studio treatment with a published price.
Find a qualified MLD practitioner when that is what was recommended
Choose the hands-on route if you specifically want manual lymphatic drainage, have been referred for it, or need a practitioner to make clinical decisions that sit outside a wellness studio’s role.
Questions worth asking before you book
- Is the treatment machine-based or hands-on?
- What training does the person providing it hold?
- How long is the appointment and what does it cost?
- What clothing or preparation is required?
- If you have a health condition or recent surgery, has your treating clinician cleared this exact method?
